After many sessions with EFT practitioners, Reiki masters, and a yogi’s, I always get the recommendation to meditate. Honestly, I hate meditating, I cannot stand the idea of having to sit in one place for any given time, let alone do it while not thinking of anything!
10% Happier by Dan Harris made me rethink meditation. I love the fact that the book was very relatable to me, not with the type of work Dan does, but the attitude of wanting so many distractions and achievements that you don’t think about how you burn yourself in the process. I loved the approach Dan took with regards to incorporating a few minutes a day to meditate, no major commitments, and see what happens.
I read many negative reviews about the book and how its all about Dan Harris and not meditation; the cover clearly states that it is about Dan Harris and how he found self-help that works. Don’t be mistaken into thinking this is a self-help book, its about how Dan found the help that made him 10% happier.
This book is a light read, and quite funny, I would recommend it if you are looking for that light book between heavier reads to clear your mind a bit.
